Another Driver Dead?

Hamilton passes Hmiel for Memphis win

It’s true, Bobby Hamilton Sr., four time NASCAR cup series and 2004 Craftsman Trucks series champion,

has died after battling neck cancer at the age of only 49 on January 7th.  Bobby was a native of

Tennessee.  The McDonalds Ford was redesigned to carry the same paint job that it had when Bobby Sr.

drove to his final cup victory in Talladega in 01.   Yet even though Bobby Sr. is dead, Bobby Jr. is still

driving.

He had been battling cancer for almost a year.    After he told everybody in 2006 that he would be

undergoing treatment for neck cancer, he immediately turned over his Craftsman’s truck driving duties to

his son Bobby Jr.  "He will be greatly missed as a husband, a father, a grandfather, an owner and a friend,"

Hamilton's family said in a statement. "We want to thank everyone for their love and support of our racing

operation and the outpouring of care and concern during his cancer battle. One of Bobby's greatest loves

in life was racing and we will continue on in his honor."
